The details
- Zomato's food delivery business reported ₹3,100 crore in revenue for Q1 FY27, a 37% year-on-year increase.
- The segment posted an operating profit of ₹621 crore and adjusted EBITDA of ₹606 crore.
- Adjusted EBITDA margin stood at 5.6% of net order value, far higher than Blinkit's 0.6%.
- Zomato's platform fee, introduced in August 2023 at ₹2 per order, now stands at ₹14.9 per order in most major cities.
- Platform fee contributed ₹154 crore in Q1 FY27, about 5% of quarterly revenue.
- Since its launch, platform fee has earned Zomato nearly ₹995 crore in total.
- Zomato serves over 27.2 million monthly transacting customers and partners with more than 3.28 lakh active restaurants.
The bigger picture
- Zomato's food delivery business remains the profit engine for parent company Eternal, funding Blinkit and other ventures.
- Blinkit now generates far more revenue (₹15,664 crore in Q1 FY27) but much lower EBITDA (₹102 crore).
- Zomato's adjusted EBITDA grew about 128% from ₹912 crore in FY24 to ₹2,079 crore in FY26.
