The bigger picture

  • Tencent first invested in PB Fintech in 2019, buying a minority stake for about $150 million.
  • At PB Fintech's IPO in November 2021, Tencent held a 9.16% stake.
  • In August 2024, Tencent sold 97 lakh shares for ₹1,668.1 crore in open market transactions.
  • PB Fintech had planned a QIP (a share sale to raise money from institutional investors) in February 2026 for international expansion, but shelved it after the share sell-off.
