The details
- Resilient Asset Management BV proposed to sell up to 4.98% stake in Paytm via a block market trade.
- The proposed stake was valued at about ₹5,073 crore based on the previous closing price.
- Resilient eventually offloaded 1.92 crore Paytm shares worth ₹2,948.9 crore in a block deal.
- The block trade was executed at ₹1,535.10 per share.
- Resilient Asset Management BV is wholly owned by Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma.
- The economic value from the sale is retained by Antfin (Netherlands) Holding BV under an existing OCD (optionally convertible debentures) agreement.
- Buyers include Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, ICICI Prudential, HSBC Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, and Societe Generale.
- Post deal, Resilient's holding fell from 10.03% to 7.2% in Paytm.
The bigger picture
- Resilient had acquired approximately 10.20% stake in Paytm from Antfin in August 2023 against OCDs issued to Antfin.
- Antfin first invested in Paytm in February 2015 with $200 million for a 25% stake.
- Antfin sold about 4% of Paytm in May 2025 for around ₹2,104 crore.
- Antfin sold its remaining direct stake of about 5.84% in August 2025 for approximately ₹3,980 crore.
- Antfin held 27.9% of Paytm at the time of its 2021 listing and exited its direct stake entirely in August 2025.
