Sarvam AI, HCLTech, and the Odisha government signed an MoU to build an AI data centre in Bhubaneswar.
The planned capital outlay for the project is ₹14,257 Cr ($1.5 Bn).
The Odisha government is likely to give financial support for the project.
The data centre will combine HCLTech's infrastructure with Sarvam's AI models for enterprise and government apps.
The facility will be located in the upcoming Odisha Sovereign AI Park.
It will support multilingual AI services and a local developer ecosystem.
HCLTech had proposed entering the full-stack AI market days before this MoU.
HCLTech also plans a strategic investment of up to ₹3,500 Cr for AI data centres, scalable to 50MW capacity.

The AI data centre market in India was valued at ₹9.33 Lakh Cr in 2025 and is projected to double to ₹20.53 Lakh Cr by 2030.
Competitors like Google, Microsoft, and Reliance are making large AI infrastructure investments in India.
Challenges for such projects include high power consumption, limited renewable energy, land acquisition hurdles, and rising capital costs.
